Wild Hydrangea

Description:

This small specimen displays a cluster of fertile flowers, which you will find more commonly in the wild than the more showy sterile flowers that people associate with hydrangeas, and which can be found sparingly on Wild Hydrangea. Also, don't look for the familiar cluster of bright blue or less commonly pink sterile flowers that are typical of garden hydrangeas; Wild Hydrangeas only bloom in whites and greens.

Habitat:

Native Distribution: S. NY to s.e. MO, s. to FL, LA & OK Native Habitat: Rich woods; rocky slopes; stream banks It is mainly found in moist soils under a hardwood forest canopy and is often common along woodland road banks and streams.[
