Spined Micrathena

Micrathena gracilis

Description:

The only web-building members of the species are the females.

Habitat:

temperate forest

Notes:

I spotted only one of these spiders when I visited Point Pelee national park last year, but this year was different. In one small area alone, there were at least 5 of these spiders. Definitely not as rare in the park as I first thought.
