Hispellinus multispinosus
A small black beetle about 10 mm long with spiny uneven elytra with numerous large puncturations. The thorax also had stiff spines. Antennae had 11 segments. The tarsi had distinct pads.
Spotted on a eucalyptus sapling, low to the ground in a nature reserve - Glenfern Valley Bushland Reserve.
This beetle belongs to the subfamily Cassidinae. Larvae are said to feed on monocots and pupate on the ground.
