Nice find Mandy! This looks more like a mantis nymph from genus Tenodera. http://bugguide.net/node/view/386/bgpage... There is a good chance that this is a Chinese Mantis (Tenodera sinensis). Take a look at the images and see what you think!
Mantis religiosa tends to have purple on the upper part of the hind legs, pink edging to the thorax, no stripes on the face and has a spot on the inside of the raptorial (front) legs: http://bugguide.net/node/view/22947
