Candyroot

Polygala nana

Description:

When I see a Candyroot plant, I take a closer look at the ground and many times I will find some sundews, as shown in my other recent spotting (https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/21...). The name comes from the fact that the root reportedly tastes like sweet liquorice.

Habitat:

Edge of a fire-suppressed longleaf pine sandhill savanna near a pond.
