Clear Wing Moth, Wasp Mimic

Nyridela xanthocera

Description:

Clear Wing Moth with orange antennae and a body covered in metallic blue-green scales. About 1.5 cm long. It seems to mimic a Spider Wasp. Family Erebidae, Arctiinae.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light set up along the highway on a cliff between San Cristobal and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 18.5, 1164 meters.

Notes:

This moth was spotted previously for Chiapas at about 1000 meters more in altitude in October of 2013 (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/562...).
