House Sparrow

Description:

This is a female house sparrow. The bird was found with many other sparrows around it. There were both male and female. There were around 7 or 8 sparrows that I spotted there, along with birds of other species standing nearby.

Habitat:

This house sparrow was found in a tree that was in a field behind a church in West Valley City, Utah. It was in a neighborhood, so there were many houses around. House sparrows are almost always found around where there are people and buildings or houses nearby. There wasn't any snow in the trees, and the grass was mostly uncovered. It was in a large tree that was filled with many birds, or multiple species.

Notes:

The bird pictured is a female house sparrow. They differ in their appearance from male house sparrows. Male house sparrows have a lot more colors with gray, white, black, and red. Female house sparrows are mostly brown or gray-brown. Their backs have brown and black on them.
