Black Ctenosaur

Ctenosaura similis

Description:

Has keeled scales on its tail, a ridge of spikes along its dorsal side, and rows of black stripes along the side of its body. Has a tan/orange hue.

Habitat:

Coastal town.

Notes:

The Black Ctenosaur is the fastest running lizard on Earth. This one bobbed its head up and down at me as I was taking pictures of it. This was a display to show dominance, and not wanting to be outdone, I bobbed my head in return. The results were inconclusive, however, as neither of us were able to draw in a female.
