dimitricacouris, black swans are native to Australia, so Europeans didn't think they existed until they got here. Black swans were intentionally introduced to New Zealand and have done very well there. Where I live they are very common and I see them any time I cross a river.

Awww. Cygnets. The ones I see everyday when I cross the Derwent river are fairly big now, about the size of their parents, but still gray.
