Grew up in Sacramento. Grandparents moved Mt. Vernon in 76 and I visited each summer. I moved up here about 3.5 years ago and am still getting to know the area, finding all the neat places to visit.

Kate says: Yup, currently in Kirkland. I'm a 3rd generation native on one side of my family--my grandmother was born in Bellingham and used to play in the "big holes in the ground" that became the Ballard Locks. :-) How about you?

It would be neat to have found a new species but unlikely. Are you from this area?

Kate says: Wow, those are some funky flies. I've never seen anything like that around here before.
