Acacia de Constaninopla

Albizia julibrissin

Description:

I came across an Acacia like plant I had never seen before in the garden of a hotel in town. It was a small tree with bright pink inflorescences like puff balls. The buds were like raspberries. The seed pod was small (3rd picture) and when dry, curls to open and drop it's seeds. Family Fabaceae.

Habitat:

San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.

Hi Lauren - family Fabaceae not Acacia (in spite of common name) ... legume, pea, or bean family.
