Common Walkingstick

Description:

Walkingsticks are hard to spot because they look like sticks or leaves, but this one was crawling around on the exterior screen of a window on a mountain cabin so it was very easy to spot. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a top-side or unobstructed view.

Habitat:

This species is native to the US and Canada. It is the most common species of Phasmid in North America. Range: Atlantic coast to northern Florida, west to New Mexico, north to Alberta Found in deciduous forest throughout North America where they find their food sources which consist of many types of plant foliage, preferring foliage from oak and hazelnut.
