Indian elephant

Elephas maximus indicus

Habitat:

monsoon forest

Notes:

this huge Indian elephant was walking down the road towards our safari minibus. the driver smartly stopped the bus but the elephant kept coming. he began to reverse the bus as the elephant kept coming at us. the driver quickly put it into drive after reversing for a while and skirted around the elephant, just missing it. you can see how close it came in the photos. what a safari!
