An oddly shaped fungus covered in dew. This specimen was quite large at around 5 or 6 inches wide about 3 inches thick.
San Pedro Wilderness in the southern most part of Rocky Mountains in New Mexico. Vegetation consists of grassy meadows, forests of Englemann Spruce, other conifers, and Quaking Aspen. The area is also laced with several small streams.

Haha! I know incredible names for incredible specimens. Love it :)
Nor did I until I spotted a similar species. Mine was called a 'brown cubical rotter'. Who gets to name these things? I've got a few good ideas, although mine would probably involve some sort of confectionery :-/

Is this actually dew, or could it possibly be a secretion from the pores of the fungus itself? Hydnellum peckii was my first though (bleeding tooth fungus), although I doubt very much this is the same species. Might be a good place to start some research though. An excellent spotting. Fungi never ceases to amaze :-)
