Lupinus diffusus
Beautiful native plant with purple-blue flowers on a long spike and fuzzy leaves, stems, and buds. The ants were all over a few of the flower spikes, possibly to eat the flowers (photo 3). One interesting thing I have noticed about them is that they bloom from the bottom of the flower spike up, opposite of many other plants I have observed.
