Shooting Star

genus: Dodecatheon

The flowers of this plant resemble a shooting star with its folded back sepals and arrowhead shape. Flowering stems erupt from a basal rosette of leaves.

I find these plants growing in a variety of locations ranging from dry mountain meadows to wetter, lowland sites.

One of the things that drew me to this shot was the symmetry of the two flowers. Thanks for the comments Lars and Laura.

This is a gorgeous shot, I love how identical the two plants are. Very pleasing to the eye :) And of course, those flowers are beautiful.
