Cyanistes caeruleus
This Blue Tit was one of several that visited my back garden during the particularly harsh winter this year.
Mainly Europe - often found in gardens, fruit tree areas and woods of any kind also seen in residential areas. Doesn't migrate.
The yellow breast of the blue tit comes from carotenes in the caterpillars that they eat. Females go for the mails with the most striking coloured breast as they know where there are good sources of food.
