Large Psammadromus

Psammadronus algirus

More colourful than the Iberian Wall lizard with its orange hind legs. Grows to 25 cm.

Loves sandy places with dense prickly bushes and plants. Hunts under them and also climbs them as it has protection from the spines with its large pointed scales.

Often squeaks if handled, like geckoes. Common here in Portugal, also in Spain and parts of France.
