Black-winged Stilt

Description:

Also known as Common or Pied stilt, this is a very long-legged wader, belonging to the family Recurvirostridae (Avocet & Stilt). The adult bird is white, with black back and wing covers, and long red legs. Head coloring varies, from pure white to dusky grayish coloring in patches. The bill is very long, thin and black.

Habitat:

Somewhere in between Mao and Moussoro, in Bahr-el-Gazal - semi-desertic region of Chad, belonging to Sahel belt; but an important water point for a village (whose name I've forgotten...)
