Red-rumped Cacique Nest

Cacicus haemorrhous

Description:

long, hanging bag shaped nest

Habitat:

transition zone between Atlantic coast rainforest and cerrado.

Notes:

I spotted this at Parque Natural do Caraca. I thought only Oropendulas build these type of nests, then I learned about Caciques.

I see similar hanging nests of weaver birds 15 years ago close to mountain. Thanks for reminding it. I have a new mission in mind. They prefer mostly giant Palm tree.
