This plant was actually growing along the road of the Grand Staircase- Escalante. Amazing color and stick like appearance made it stand out. Few leaves on stem, flower grows out of a basal rosette of leaves

Habitat:

grows 4800-6800 ft. desert scrub, pinyon juniper woodland
