Lycogala epidendrum
A very odd looking salmon colored fungus growing in clusters. It looked like candy or that ice cream that is made in a wind tunnel.
Shady mountain slope, New York state.
Please help identify, I've never seen a mushroom like this.

I would say other Other. Even though other types of slime mold are in the Audobon guide to mushrooms, I guess it's not technically a fungus.
There was a documetary in german TV. You can watch it on youtube. Language is german, but amazing stuff!!!! 4 parts.

That is interesting, Does it still belong in the "Fungi" category or should I switch it to "Other"?
They are the fruiting bodies of one organism. They are not a fungus but a protist. I was also corrected on this by TimSage, an amatuer mycologist on Noah that ID'd my spotting. They are new to me too. I just read more info on Wiki.
Do you know if they are all a single organism or are they each individual fungi?
Your welcome. For sure, its looks like Nerds.
Wow, Thank you both. Dan it looks just like your spotting, although I don't remember any fuzz, but it might just have slipped my mind. I think it very funny that we both described it as candy-like.
yes, I would say Wolf's milk slime.
Compare it to my spotting to see what you think
