Carolina Anole

Anolis carolinensis

Description:

The Carolina anole is an arboreal lizard found primarily in the southeastern United States and some Caribbean islands. Other common names include the green anole, American anole and red-throated anole. It is sometimes referred to as the American chameleon due to its color-changing abilities; however, many lizards are capable of this, and anoles are not true chameleons.

Habitat:

Found in bushes, trees (not above 15'), in and on rock walls, woods, around houses.

Notes:

This particular Anole spends the night tucked in between the downspout & our house. Every morning around 0700 eastern it comes out to sun and then jumps to the holly and starts to hunt for breakfast.
