native millipede

Pogonosternum sp.

Description:

A pale millipede about 25 mm long with about 19 segments. Head was black. It had a black median stripe and a black lateral stripe on either side. Each body segment seemed to flare out slightly.

Habitat:

Spotted on dead tree trunk in a nature reserve.

Notes:

This species can be anything from 1 to 20 mms. Class: Diplopoda
Order: Polydesmida
Family: Paradoxosomatidae
