White Spruce

Description:

Tree's foliage is dying on the branches from the bottom of tree to more than half way up, mostly on the south side of tree. Many of the lowest branches are dropping their foliage and leaving the branches bare. No damage to the bark itself can be seen.

Habitat:

Tree is south facing and receives sun all day long with nothing to shade it during the day. Simular trees of the same species in area. Long grass growing around and right up to tree. Standing water in close proximity of tree. Sidewalk is rather far from tree and there is no roads near by.

Notes:

Diagnosis and Recomendatios Seems to be no sign of canker, spider mite or other insect infestations, or fungal infections that effect the white spruce tree and they can deal with drought and wet conditions, so environment is not a factor. Dropping of needles is a natural process, especially when there has been freeze-thaw cycles. There is no need to treat with a pesticide or remove effected branches.
