Common Loon

Gavia immer

Notes:

I saw this loon chick just after it was out of the nest and then went back a week later thinking it might be gone but it was still there. A pair of Bald Eagles were hastling the family all the time. The next week it was still there so I decided to take a photo through the scope to document it. In 8 years of loon surveys on 3 lakes near my home, this is only the 2nd young I have seen survive for longer than a week. Very precious!
