Euthrix potatoria
The Caterpillar rests by day and feeds by night on grasses. It hibernates late October in grass tussocks, emerging in the spring to continue feeding, when it grows up to 70mm in length, before pupating for a month and emerging as an adult in July. This species gets its English (and Latin) name from the habits of the caterpillar, which is supposed to have a liking for drops of dew.
