Mastigodryas melanolomus
Tan, slender snake with a black stripe on the face.
Found it in a courtyard at my resort. Courtyard was bordered by short, stone walls and jungle on the other side of the walls.
I was out looking for snakes in early afternoon when I walked into this courtyard. When I got to a certain point I could see something moving so I stopped and noticed it was a snake moving slowly on the ground. Had no idea what it was, so put down my camera and grabbed my welding gloves and ran after it. Soon found out that was a terrible idea. As soon as I started running after it, it took off. Took me half a second to realize it was a racer and I didn't have a shot at catching it. Of course I missed it, and it went into a hole underneath the stone wall. I figured it would come back out if I waited, so I sat on another stone wall and just watched the hole it had gone into. About 4 or 5 mins later, I noticed something weird looking on top of the wall a few meters down, so took a photo and zoomed in. I saw it was him again, coming back over the top of the wall. This time I took a lot of photos from where I was sitting before I moved. Then I tried running and catching him again and missed again, but at least I had photos now so I could ID it!
