Dark dorsal wings with bright red/orange band on the hindwings and across the middle of the forewings. There are also white spots on the tips of the forewings.
Found in on a species of Verbena in Coast Sage Scrub in San Diego County. Found in subtropical, temperate, and boreal northern hemisphere habitats. Also in Hawaii.
aka red admirable. Some added a subspecies of rubria for those found in North America.
