Adults are large, black and tailless. Upper front wing has pale blue markings narrowing towards the apex. Hind wing is pale blue with 2 rows of large black spots.

it has a very beautiful bright red spot at the base of the wings on the under side..

that is a great mormon not a blue mormon.. two are different species..
