Chroicocephalus ridibundus
Small gull, easily recognised by the black hood on its head. The eyes are black with white circles surrounding them and the beak is red. This is a migratory species - most of the population overwinters in southern parts of Europe while during summer months they are found all over the European continent.
Coastal areas - marshes, estuaries, beaches. Also commonly found in cities near the sea.
