Ceryle rudis
A black and white bird with a dagger like beak. Known for its spectacular fishing method. A lot of zooming in will be required but I had to share these with the world. Caught the guy fishing. Seen in the pics 1>hovering approx 10 mtr above the water. 2> coming out of the water. 3>seen flying upwards with the beak pointed towards the sky....never seen any bird do this.

Thanks Laura. I realized it late that cropped images will be better to understand the birds.
That last shot is fabulous Satyen! And the close up cropped picture shows off what a beautiful bird this is :)
Yes Emma, it is upside down.
is it upside down? doing flips in the air?
Cropped and added 2 pics, the last one is worth seeing.
Yes Gaurab it does hover in the air till it has marked it's prey, then it shoots downwards to grad the feast.
It is an mazing kingfisher, it can remain at a position in air to track the movement of their prey.
Thanks. The last shot is indeed the best of all the bird photographs that I have ever clicked. We have many kingfishers around, but it is difficult clicking them when they are in action as they are very fast. It was my lucky day when I clicked these.
Wow great action shots! What a beautiful bird, we only have one kind of kingfisher here, the blue and orange Common Kingfisher. That last shot is spectacular
