Plusiopalpa adrasta
Brown moth; length 2.5 cm (1 inch); amazing, high 'ridges' on back; exact same white 'paint spots' on his other side.
Hills overlooking Manila.
Sorry I didn't get his head in focus on the 2nd photo...

... Shared human life as well: Just met a lady from Tasmania in the supermarket here! :-)
Thanks, I have this habit of here of "hey, I have a picture of one of those, let me see if I can find it." ;) I think the wikipedia entry is wrong to say that they are limited to Australia, but yes, there is a lot of shared insect life between here and the island nations to the north.
Great photos! ... We seem to get a lot of insect life here from Australia, or is that my imagination?
I was pretty sure I had a photo of Chrysodeixis argentifera. This is what I found in a folder called "moths" : http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/681...
Thanks so much lori.tas! I think you've got it! I didn't post the picture of the moth's whole back (it was such a bad photo!), but it looked much like the one on the wikipedia page.
Looks a lot like a Tobacco looper (Chrysodeixis argentifera), but I'm not convinced. Maybe something closely related.
