Asclepias speciosa
Ahh, good to know. A. speciosa has really crazy cool flowers when they're open.
Scott and Kristen, i have to still do the write up ,but this is a showy Milkweed .
Asclepias speciosa
@Kirsten, isn't it Giant Milkweed. See immature leafs and colour of central vein of all leafs. Its must be Calotropis plant.
Nice photo of a beautiful plant. Judging from the big woolly buds and the general fuzzy appearance of the plant, and also from where it was found, I'm going to guess that it's Woollypod Milkweed, Asclepias eriocarpa. http://www.wildflower.org/gallery/result.... It can be pretty variable, especially in the color of the flowers and shape of the leaves: http://calphotos.berkeley.edu/cgi/img_qu...
