Lampropeltis getula holbrooki - Stejneger
Long slender snake. Black body with yellow/white dots. Small rounded head. Non-poisonous. 5-6 inches in diameter and this guy/gal was about 4 feet long. Just passing through the yard on a rainy spring day.
There are several acres of tall grass on one side of our neighborhood and several acres of wooded area on the opposite side. He was crossing from the field to the woods which when rains gets marsh like.
He was happily released after I took a couple pics with no harm done. Although he was probably a little annoyed we stopped him on his way. http://www.kingsnake.com/king/getula/hol...

Nice pic! At first glance he looks a lot like the Australian Diamond Python.
