Carpet Chameleon

Furcifer lateralis

Description:

small chameleon, not sure 100% of the species but it does fit location.

Habitat:

coastal

Notes:

I spotted this near the beach at Evatraha, an hour from Fort Dauphin in southern Madagascar. The chameleon is on my hand in the first photo. I set it down on my tshirt for the second. It changed color right before my eyes once it got to the trunk of a tree, in the third photo.

Thanks everyone! Tom, that is a tree that it's on and yes, I think it would be very hard to camouflage while on my finger!

nice to see how it adapts to the rock formation. I bet your finger was a harder task for him.
