Parnassia palustris
This plant is recognizable by its beautiful white flowers with 5 ribbed petals. The last shot shows the plant's heart-shaped leaf, found at the base. Each stem carries one flower. Usually found in patches but this one was standing alone along a mountain path.
Found mostly in high mountain meadows, but also in marshy places, on the banks of streams, in mountain bogs. Spotted here at 1400m ASL.
Flowers in July and August.

Thank you!
Wonderful!
Thanks Misako! It's one of my favourite flowers.
Beautiful!
You're right Ashish, digital certainly gives us more control. Mountain weather can be challenge!
Yes..Daniele... Thankfully we have Digital camera now...with film camera I have lost many shots with blurred images due to gales...in Mountains... in past decades...!!
I agree! Wind can be a photographer's worst friend. :)
Thank you Nicole, Dangermouse and Ashish! Dangermouse when it's windy flowers don't cooperate that much! :-) Hopefully not on that day.
Beauty from Alps..!!
That first picture is stunning indeed - amazing! Though I find flowers easier to photograph as they don't move very much! :) But still, this is a great series, thanks for sharing with us.
Gorgeous photos!
What a Beauty!
I agree with ceherzog!
Thanks ceherzog! It was a good day to get details on a white flower: no sunshine...
These are beautiful pictures. I don't know which one I like the best. A very cool flower.
