Bombax or Red Silk Cotton Tree

Description:

Very large red blossoms bloom on bare branches in the winter. The blossoms are rich with nectar and once shed by the tree small animals eat the blossoms. Seed pods yield silky kapok.

Habitat:

Tropical climate.

Yes it does have thorns =) it was quite adore to see a bare tree with those magnificent blooms!

Was the trunk Thorny? I planted a Bombax tree that blooms in October but it has pink blossoms, not red.
