Description:

Large very colorful, distinctive butterfly that has large colorful "eye spots" of orange, black and white on the upper and undersides of the wings. The upper body is a shade of brown.

Habitat:

Highly variable locations, in this case a city homeowners yard.

Notes:

This butterfly seems to be more common this year in our community than in recent years.
