Praying Mantis

Hierodula trimaculata

Description:

Huge green Praying Mantis. It had a strange discoloration on its back.

Habitat:

At the coast near jungle.

Notes:

It was on the doorframe of our hotel lobby. Moving pretty fast.

Okay, great. I do not think colors are a good way of distinguishing mantises. Rhomboderella might have a shield like that one too. One of the species is Rhomboderella scutata which I think means shield from the translator in latin.

I think you are right! The Rhombodera has those same colourations on its back. I'll do some more research. Thanks!

I do not know what Hierdula trimaculata looks like. Did you know about Rhombodera?
