A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Ardea herodias
Give yourself a month. Maybe two. You'll be rattling off the names of the birds that are around you with no problem. If not the birds, then whatever category interests you most.
OK that is where I have gone wrong.. I have typed my guess in the box then checked help me id.. that does not seem to do it. I will put it in the description next time!
When you are unsure, click on the help me ID this Species box. Leave the name and species blank. They will, in fact, grey out. Put your guess in the description and your spotting will be flagged for needing assistance. That way, you don't have to hope someone sees it pass by. Don't get me wrong. Do try. The more info you put in, the easier it is to help. Good luck!!
Ok thanks Sarah! I was just getting ready to ask how one could tell... I really appreciate you giving me correct information. You sure know your birds!
I can understand why you would think so, but no. The Grey Heron would be out of range in CA.
