Mealy Amazon Parrot

Amazona farinosa

Description:

The Mealy Parrot is one of the largest American parrots. It is mainly green with a whitish mottling on the back and neck. It has a short square tail and the end half of the tail is yellowish. The wings have blue-black trailing edge to the wing and a small red wing patch.

Habitat:

forest

Notes:

I spotted this at Finca Magdalena on the island of Ometepe in the middle of Lake Nicaragua. It was kind of the pet of the farm and was always hanging around. It is chewing a pen I left on the table in the second photo.

It may be a Amazon? Does it have yellow or red on its wings?
