Song Sparrows

Melospiza melodia

Description:

brown feathers on wing, brown streaks on white chest, head brown and grey. Has white on side of head with brown stripe coming off the eye.

Habitat:

This bird is not normally in my area this time of year, but will winter here. It is about 60 miles too far south according to my book. But I have been seeing several of these birds. I might have it misidentified.

Notes:

The bird closer to the camera was hopping/flying from a hanging basket to the feeder, getting some seeds, and hopping/flying back to another bird. Then it was giving the other bird the seeds. This went on for about 5 minutes and the two flew off. The other one never did go to the feeder. I am thinking this was a male and female pair possibly with the male trying to court the female? It is an odd time of year for this I would think (end of August?)
