Broad-footed Mole

Scapanus latimanus

Description:

This mole is uniformly brown with a lighter tinge on its belly. It has large broad forepaws for digging.

Habitat:

Grassy patch in an empty creek bed.

Notes:

I found this interesting creature dead unfortunately. It had been raining a few days before, maybe it was drowning in its burrow.
