Orange pore fungus

favolaschia calocera

Description:

tiny orange bracket fungus ranging from 4mm-10mm. Topside looks like orange peel with a cell like structure underneath. Attached by a very small stem to a rotting log above a creek.

Habitat:

native NZ bush creek

Notes:

an introduced tropical species, it is now spread abundantly throughout the North Island (this was found here in the South!)

thankyou Alex, they certainly look like they could be part of this family. I must spend more time trying to identify my spottings but I enjoy the field work more! It will be Summer here soon and gets dry so few fungi...then I will do my research!
