Stellar's Jay

Cyanocitta stelleri

Description:

Blue body, wings, and tail Blackish face and long blackish crest Moderately long square blue tail Strong black bill

Habitat:

Look for Steller’s Jays in evergreen forests of western North America, at elevations of 3,000-10,000 feet (lower along the Pacific coast). They’re familiar birds of campgrounds, picnic areas, parks, and backyards.

Notes:

Spotted these in my backyard, eating up the birdseed dropped from my feeder. Don't see these guys much in my yard, so much larger than the Blue Jay we had in Texas. They are just as bossy as Blue Jay's!
