I had a muscovy drake years ago whose whole head and neck were covered with caruncles (although not as densely as this one), with the occasional white feather tucked away in the folds. It was the face only a other could love. And I often worried that he had trouble seeing. But he was otherwise a big happy fellow.
Yes, it is strange to see its head entirely covered in the red caruncles!!
