Gray Sand-dragon dragonfly

Progomphus borealis

Description:

This particular type of dragonfly isn't as numerous here where I live as the much more colorful "flame skimmer" type -- or, perhaps, it's just that one doesn't notice them as much because of their earth-toned colors...

Habitat:

Dry hillsides, chaparrall, oak woodlands

Notes:

I have only had the opportunity a couple of times to photograph sand-dragons and this was one of them.
