Spotted Towhee

Pipilo maculatus

Description:

A bit larger than most sparrows, the Spotted Towhee male is distinguished by its black head and red eyes.

Habitat:

This bird likes brushy areas and will often hunt on the ground within these areas. If you hear the rustling of leaves from within a brushy area, it's likely a Towhee.
