Crane Fly

Tipulidae sensu lato

Description:

Large fly with long legs that resembles a large mosquito without a long proboscis

Habitat:

My backyard

Notes:

Some people think they are mosquitoes, others think they eat mosquitoes, but neither is true. Crane fly larvae eat grass, and the adults either eat pollen and nectar or don't eat at all.
